Christmas in San Diego

For the holidays we took off to the wonderful place of San Diego! Both of our families live there so we were able to spend lots of time with both of them. It was tons of fun, besides the fact that I almost froze to death! --but Seth was there to keep me warm. One of my favorite parts was seeing my doxies back home. I swear every time I see Hammy I'm afraid its the last...but he seems to be as perky and healthy as ever, regardless how incredibly old he is!

When we first got home, we ritually we went to Disneyland (of course!)

We had a lot of fun! For some unknown reason, there were no lines ANYWHERE and we walked on everything! Seth says that he doesn't think he can ever go back to a crowded Disneyland

We went on every ride like 3 times or more! I also really loved how the castle was decorated.

A few days laters, we spent Christmas morning at my family's house, and then the afternoon and evening dinner at Seth's house/grandparent's house. It was a lot of fun! I was really happy that I got to play with all of my cute nieces and nephews and all of their new Christmas presents. They are the most adorable little kids ever. I was also really happy to see all of our family that we haven't seen in a while!

After Christmas, we made a last minute decision to go to Vegas for our 1-year anniversary! Our first year of marraige was awesome, and what better way to top it off than to go on a crazy trip to Vegas!?! It was a BLAST! We got to go to the sweet outlet malls on the way up and found a bunch of cool stuff. We made it past the horrific new years traffic to our hotel (the Monte Carlo) which was really nice!

Seth was a sweetheart and took me out to dinner and gave me a beautiful necklace and matching pair of earrings. I love him! We ate dinner at ESPN zone, which is one of my favorite places to eat--you get to watch a game on the TV at your table, and then on the huge screen on the wall---and then eat food at the same time!!!!! haha.
I loved walking around vegas and seeing all of the cool hotels and shops. It was such an adventure!

The pretty Paris hotel..

Inside the Bellagio...

Outside by the fountain..

at night when it was going off..

One of my favorite places was M&M world! I got to pick out a bunch of different colored M&M's

The best part was we got to go see the Blue Man Group! It was great! We both loved it. I wasn't allowed to take pictures of the show, but I got one of us with some of the loads and loads of paper that they used in the show and told us to decorate ourselves. haha. I got a distant shot of one of the blue men after the show...

We spent another week in San Deigo and then flew back to Hawaii! We had so much fun this Christmas break. We picked up fatty, who stayed with grandma over the break and is now as fat as ever. We're glad to have him back!

Now we're here in school again, looking forward to the summer!

Merry Christmas!

or... Mele Kalikimaka!

Baloo hated me for doing this to him, but I just couldn't resist. Fat little reindeers are just too cute, and I felt like Baloo should do his part to get into the holiday spirit!

Have a great holiday season everyone!

Thanksgiving weekend on Maui

We had SO MUCH FUN this Thanksgiving weekend!

This year we went with the Nathaniel and Camille Dixon over to Maui! It was so much fun. We left Baloo with Lacey's Grandma in Honolulu and left Wednesday night. We stayed in North Kihei at some random vacation rental that actually turned out to be really nice! We ate Thanksgiving dinner at Bill and Shelly's, who are friends of Camille from back in Idaho. It was DELICIOUS! We all ate a ton and spent the rest of the day on the beach! The next day we went to Hana, which was a day trip. To get there we had to go on a crazy windy one lane road next to a cliff! It was nuts! After surviving the cliff drive and local people speeding past us on one lane bridges, we made it to Hana and stopped off at a lot of beautiful places! Then we did a hike up to Waimoku falls through bamboo forest, and it was awesome and so much fun! Seth and Nathaniel ended up jumping off of some rocks into the pools. We all got to go tree climbing and the swimming under the waterfall.
The next day we decided to go to Haleakala crater, which is 10,000 feet high! It was FREEZING up there. Everyone had jackets and windbreakers except for us...haha. When we climbed to the top we ended up getting in our bathing suits to show how tough we are but ended up looking kind of stupid...haha! The view was breathtaking because we were up in the clouds! Then we went to 'Iao valley to see the needle! The valley was really gorgeous and lush. Camille and Lacey wanted to get a good pic of the needle so they climbed over the rail and some random grumpy tourist asked if we went to school and if we can read...too bad there was no sign that said we couldn't go over the rail! We deemed him the grumpiest man in Hawaii. haha.
So then went on another crazy road on the way to Lahaina--another one lane cliff road!! Who was the guy to design these roads? Seriously it was scary. But we made it to a random spot in the middle of nowhere and climbed down a cliff to some cool tide pools where we got to go swimming with fish! And then we found a blowhole that was going off! It was awesome. And lets not forget the many many stops at Krispy Kreme! They really should build one on O'ahu. So we made it back in time for school on Monday. And we're glad to have Fatty back! It was an AWESOME trip!

Next stop: California! (..and Disneyland!)

Philippines, here we come!

Well we just found out that next summer we will be living in the Philippines for 2 whole months doing research for BYU Hawaii! The school is completely paying for everything! We're super excited because this is a once in a lifetime opportunity and it will be fun to get to know the Filipino people and their culture. Our research projects will also look good our both of our resumes for future job opportunities. We can't wait to go!

A Gorgeous Hawaiian Sunset

On Saturday we decided to go to our favorite spot by Turtle Bay to watch the sunset. We knew it would be beautiful, but we were still surprised by how breathtaking the view was! This is what we saw:

Isn't it amazing???
