Mr. Popular
Yesterday Baloo got neutered (Finally!). I felt so guilty taking him down there. He was so happy that he got to ride in the car, that it made me feel terrible to think that he would have to go through surgery!
When we got to the Vet hospital, people went nuts. Everyone just thought he was the cutest thing ever. Baloo is a super friendly dog too, so it made it worse when Baloo just walked up to the vet techs and showed them his charming wrinkly face. Pretty much the entire front staff left what they were doing (including the poor, sick other dogs!) to come and pet Baloo while making weird kissy faces and talking in a high pitched voice.
All the polynesian ladies kept saying he looked like their husbands. I don't really think that is a compliment to their husbands.
Baloo also had no problem leaving me! They came to prep him for surgery and he just took off with a stranger, no hesitation. This dog will do anything for attention! Who would have thought this thing would be popular!
They called me a few hours later to tell me the surgery went well. The vet also told me that everyone was having such a good time with Baloo. She said that everyone was taking tons of pictures with him and just adored him. When Seth went to pick him up, practically the entire vet hospital staff came out to say goodbye to Baloo. The lady at the front said "Oh no! you're going to take Baloo away from us!" They were so sad to see him leave! Oh, and they even wrote at the bottom of the receipt that they loved him and thought he was such a good patient. This dog is such a stage ham! This celebrity dog has this amazing charm that he is able to cast over people! Usually I can't even take him for a walk without a couple people stopping me and oogling over him. geez. Maybe I should bring Baloo with me wherever I go. Maybe people will be nice and give me free things.
Oh, and Baloo is doing well. He's in some pain, but I have been diligent on giving him his pain medication. He's been drowsy too. I bet he's sad that he's not at the vet hospital anymore, where he is a known celebrity. He probably thinks I'm so boring. Poooooooor Baloo (implied sarcasm).

Done already.

I think these two are just crazy. I'm tired of hearing about Spencer and Heidi! Can you believe they even tried to get into the music business? Ouch--thanks for making my ears bleed!
They are always posing and making cheesy pictures. Seems like they just crave the spotlight. And Spencer is just disgusting!

The cutest kids on the planet.
I teach the most adorable little kids in Primary on Sundays.
I'm really bummed I don't have a picture for you to show you how adorable they really are. All the kids in our primary are adorable. I get such a kick out of them! Two little girls today were so excited to show me their matching painted fingernails, and another one told me how her uncle paints his toenails in his sleep. On boy in class today wore a cummerbund and a bowtie--he looked SO cute! And another little boy ate his reverent bean instead of putting it in the box. Another boy forgets his shoes every Sunday. I think its so funny that I have to remind him to not forget his shoes.
Seth and I teach the 8-11 year olds. I love this age group because they become your little friends rather than just little kids you teach. They are old enough to answer questions and communicate in lessons. And they all have the cutest testimonies. I love it when I ask them a simple question and they come up with these profound answers about the gospel. It just amazes me! Sometimes the things they say are so pure and honest, and it makes me feel so good. Today It was my turn to teach. I had a really simple lesson about the members of the church moving to Kirtland, Ohio. To be honest it was pretty boring, but the kids all listened and said some amazing things! I am so surprised when I ask a question and they remember everything to the detail. They are so amazing! Seth is so good with the kids. They all think he is hilarious and he always thinks of fun and interactive ways for the kids to learn. He helps me make the lessons interesting!
All of our kids have such simple testimonies. I swear I learn more listening to these kids than I do from adults. They have honest viewpoints and sincere answers to everything. You can tell from the way that they act that they were raised and taught so well. Thank you parents for being such good teachers to these children!! Sometimes you meet spoiled kids who are mean and have such attitudes about everything...but then you see kids like these and you just fall in love with them. I know when we move away from Hawaii I'm going to miss these little guys. It makes me so happy to see the girls from my old class run up screaming "Lacey, LACEEEY!!!" and practically barrel me over with hugs. I mean, who is going to be that excited to see me on the mainland?!? I hope our kids are like the ones we teach someday.

Big Decisions.
Alright...time to face the facts!
Today I did some major deciding. I have reached a part in my life where I need to decide my future, and what I plan to accomplish within the next few years. I think that this is one of the biggest forks I have reached in my life so far.
I'm not going to elaborate on the decision process, (Way too long for words to express!) but just provide the facts.
Today I decided:
-I absolutely cannot settle for merely a Bachelor's degree. I just can't. This year I am applying to many graduate schools. I'm applying to Veterinary schools to become a DVM, and multiple schools for a master's degree in Zoology, Conservation Biology, and Animal Behavior (The degree chosen depends on the school...as well as where Seth gets into.) Honestly this all rides on where Seth gets in. In a "perfect world," we would both get into the same school---(don't remind me about the slim chances of that happening).
-I'm taking the GRE this summer. Someone give me some ideas on how to motivate myself to study for this!
-I'm finishing my senior research by August...got A LOT of work to do. ugggggggggggggggghhhhhhh.
-Taking on extra hours at the Zoo Veterinary clinic. (We're doing a lot of work on the Tiger cubs this week!)
-I'm running a marathon this December. Ok I already told ya this...but its still a major decision I made recently.
Overly ambitious? No wayyy. I just like to be organized and plan for the future. I feel like if I don't, opportunities will pass me by.
Anyway, I wrote this post mainly to organize my thoughts. So...sorry if you were extremely bored by reading this. I don't blame you. I have some good news, but I don't feel like posting it to the world. We all know how things pass through the gossip grape vine.
****Oh here is something interesting....in the LOST season finale, Jack has a flashback where he's doing a surgery...the hospital he was in was the Vet clinic at the Honolulu zoo! They used the main hallway, the x ray room, and the surgery room. We were all excited about that today at the zoo. I couldn't believe it when I saw it. Too bad they filmed before I started there. I would have felt a lot cooler. ha!*****

Schhhhprrrringgg time!
So here's the updates on the Kressins:
-For Seth's birthday, we went to the water park on the west side of the island because we had free tickets. It was FUN!!! I was too scared to bring my camera, though it is waterproof, because it has broken because of water leakage before (which I guess defeats the purpose of a water-proof camera, right? ...thats another story...) so no pictures folks. I'll tell you one thing though, the heavier the total weight in the raft, the FASTER you go! Seth and I went on one ride were you sit in a tube, go down a steep slide, and into a crazy funnel. I wanted to go again, and a really big lady asked if she could ride with us, so we took her on our raft with us. Ok, HUGE DIFFERENCE!! I thought we were going to die, we went so fast down the tube. And then we went so high in the funnel I thought we were going to get launched out and die. And then we went up again and I thought we were going to die again. Seth said he's never seen me look so scared! Ok, well I didn't expect to be launched out into a funnel going a million miles per hour!! The lady just laughed and said "See, now weren't you glad to have me ride with you?" haha.
-We also saw Star Trek in Imax: loved it. I don't think I can see any other movie without seeing it in Imax now.
-After taking my financial aid class and realizing that I have no credit history, I applied for my first credit card. I finally feel like a grown up. haha. Wahoo! Don't worry kids, I'm responsible!!
-I made a huge dinner on Sunday for Seth and Baloo's birthday...soooo good. The cake was my favorite: Chocolate fudge mousse cake. The recipe was provided by Mr. William Fisher. I added a few things to it and it turned out great. My sister-in-law Sarah would be proud, since she the super-chef of the family! What did it look like? Fret no more, here is a picture!
-I realized this week that a lot of people don't have much faith in my abilities. Well, I am officially running a marathon in December. A lot of people were like "Really? You? Run a marathon? So you're like, going to walk it?" Umm....hello..please censor your negative thoughts! I have a lot of people to smack in the face when I cross the finish line with a decent time. so anyway, since I've gotten into running again, I've started to get back into running longer distances. Hooray! The date of the marathon is actually the day after I finally graduate from BYUH. So I get to accomplish some amazing things within 48 hours of each other. Bring on December!
-Poor Baloo. We've scheduled him to get neutered next week. I feel guilty when I walk by him, like I'm sending him to his death or something and he doesn't even know it. Poor Baloo.
-And last but not least: the good ol' arm: absolutely 100% the SAME. yep. Its been 8 months now, so I've kind of accepted it into my life. Ironically, I strained my left knee running somehow the other week, so I've been gimping around a lot. It should get better with a few days of rest, but I just thought it was funny that I'm only 21 and I'm having old people problems already. I've only got one arm and one leg left!!!
Thats all thats new with us! I'm just happy that school ends in 3 weeks! yesssss...

...To the hottest and my most favorite person in the whole world!! I love you so much!
Unfortunately, I'm in school today, and Seth has to work, so we are celebrating all day tomorrow. It will be the best day ever!
The birthday bash consists of:
-homemade Belgian waffles with strawberries and whipped cream for breakfast
-all day fun at the water park (Thanks for the tickets Nate and Camille!)
-Fabulous dinner in town
-Star Trek in Imax
-homemade chocolate mousse cake and awesome presents
-a late cinco de mayo/birthday dinner for Seth and Baloo (Baloo turns 2 tomorrow!). Kelly is coming over to help us celebrate too. This requires enchiladas, spicy chicken nachos, chips and salsa, and spanish rice. Oh and another type of chocolate fudge cake for dessert.
Hooray for Seth being 25! Now we can rent a car with a discount :)

TheBus

I absolutely hate TheBus. (That's the actual name of the bus company..TheBus...creative, right?) I absolutely cannot stand TheBus.
Ok, well actually riding the bus is a different story. I don't mind riding the bus at all actually...its WAITING for the bus.
Seth works all the way in Kailua until late at night, so I have to take the bus to school, which I didn't mind at all...
Until the bus had proven itself to be completely unpredictable and late almost every single time I need to take it somewhere! I cannot tell you how many times I have been super late to class because of the bus being late. It is supposed to come every half hour, and it never ever does. Usually I have to wait over an hour for the bus to come! Sometimes I get at the bus stop an hour and a half before class (which can be hard to do when you have class early in the morning) and I am still 25 minutes or so late! It drives me crazy.
But yesterday just killed me!
I got out of class at noon. I was at the bus stop at 12:15. I waited there until 2:10 or so...can you believe it? I was so frustrated by that point. Then a tourist lady comes up to me, telling me she just got off the bus coming in that direction, and she said that the bus had taken a detour, turning right before Foodland, and coming out by the PCC, skipping all of the Laie stops! That was weird because there was construction going on by Foodland, but they were letting cars through one lane and there was no traffic. I was going to die. Thanks, bus, for skipping all the Laie stops without letting anyone know, though you could have easily gone through the construction area like everyone else! Thank goodness that lady came and told me.
So, backpack full of textbooks and all, I hiked down to the PCC. And waited...and waited. By that point if the bus came I wasn't sure I would be happy to see it, or be so mad that I had been waiting now for almost 3 hours, that I would kick the bus driver or something. Soooo....I started to walk home. So anyway, I ended up walking a little over 2 miles home.
I used my excursion as an excuse to not have to go running that night. That was my workout.
And I hate TheBus. The end.

Death by stairs
On Friday, Seth and I decided to check out the Koko head railway hike. My friend had gone on it, and I wanted to check it out!
Turns out it was super difficult---stairs straight up to the top of a volcano crater! If I could rename this hike, I would call it Death by Stairs.
The view was worth it though! Especially if you took the time to climb a little higher and then go around to the back.
Before the hike...
It wasn't too bad until the last third or so...which was practically straight up. It sucked.
View from the top of the stairs: So high up! You can see the itty bitty trail go all the way down...
The view was so nice! ...And worth the death climb.
We found an old man with a crazy hat to take our picture. Seth was happy to pass him on the bridge on the way back on a third of the way down
Oh yeah, we were totally sore the next day. After burning so many calories that day, a big dinner never tasted so good.
Seth ended up really liking it, and wants to go do it often. Going on that monstrous hike would get anyone into shape! The thought of climbing those stairs again doesn't sound too exiting to me...
By the way, what is a railroad doing on the side of an inactive volcano crater?

Add on to the last post:
I took this picture this morning because I just loved the colors of the sky. It was way more gorgeous in person than in this photo, but you can still sense the peaceful feeling of the sunrise.
