Arrested Development

Have any of you seen this show?

Besides Seinfeld, this is the funniest show I have ever seen.

It was canceled despite constant high ratings from critics in 2006, and I couldn't have been more bummed out. Its one of the few shows that has made me laugh hysterically!

We have the 3 seasons on DVD, and since the cable is out in TVA for 3 days, I've pulled them out to watch again--I can't believe this show was canceled!

My favorite character is Gob (pronounced "Job" like the bible character) and his magician acts.

I've realized that this clip probably isn't too funny unless you've seen the show before.

You can watch Arrested Development on Hulu.com! Tell me what you think!

Happy National Cheesecake Day!

Now go and eat some Cheesecake to celebrate!

No more rolling up my jeans!

For as long as I can remember, I've always had to roll up my jeans because I'm too short!

I'd either roll them up/cuff them, or just let them fall at their full length, causing them to tear and become dirty because I'd end up walking in them.

I don't know why I've never seen this before, but I've recently discovered pants that have a shortened inseam!!! I guess I've just gone in and bought my size in regular without looking around. Don't judge me for being stupid, please.

So I tried on a pair of these amazing things, and they fall to just before my feet touch the ground--amazing! I can live such a better life now-- with my pants intact and not dragging through the dirt and puddles on the ground! Ok, maybe I'm being a bit dramatic, but they are perfect more my incredibly short legs. My favorite jeans so far are skinny jeans from express.

I even saw these pants in short sizes:

Can you tell I love J. Crew? These pants are the most adorable things in the world. Christmas is so far away.

I'm headed off to school now--wearing my short skinnies that make me so happy!

Happy Aloha Thursday!

Fabulous!

J. Crew has outdone themselves with this dress!

I think anyone would look FABULOUS in it!

And the shoes they pair with it are so adorable!

I would love to have an adorable pencil skirt like this one. The model makes it look so cute!

J. Crew always has the cutest stuff..and always at prices that I can't afford! Time to save, right?

**Yes, this is what I did to occupy myself in class today.**

Goodbye Summer

...for the most part, anyway.

School starts up for me tomorrow. Ugh. I am only taking one class---Pathogenic Microbiology, but its a 6 hour class/lab on tuesdays and thursdays, so its not going to be a walk in the park! I was originally excited that I still have MWF off to go do some fun stuff before fall semester starts, but as it turns out, Seth works on those days until 11 pm (even Friday!!!!). So really the only time I get to see him is before I go to school, Saturday afternoons, and Sundays. Thats a huge bummer, but it makes our Saturday dates that much more fun and special since thats the only real time we get to spend together!

I am going through Fatty withdrawals! I miss him so much! I feel like I abandoned my fat, hairy, smelly child. But from the stories and pictures I get from home, it sounds like he's in dog heaven! No one can resist his charm so he's getting all sorts of good food and playtime from everyone. He probably thought our house was a prison camp because we only fed him dog food! but I am happy to know that he's safe and very well taken care of. I guess it will only be a matter of months until I get to see him again. I'm just not used to not having him flopped on the floor next to me at home!

Our Big Island temple trip has been postponed. It was bad timing anyway, since we had already been gone a week in SD. So, in order to keep the peace with both of our jobs and to help us save up a bit more money, I had to postpone our trip to Thanksgiving weekend. Originally, I was really bummed because I was looking forward to it for so long, but now that I think about it, I'm glad we did that. The trip would have been more stressful than not because we would have been worrying about Seth's job and how they were going to handle a bunch of stuff, and dealing with not being at work for another week. I really wanted to be relaxed and prepared for the temple, and I think that would have been hard to do if we went now. Plus, every year we go off island for Thanksgiving, and now this year we get to do it again! And I didn't have to pay any cancellation fees, and booked everything for the same price. And our temple appt. is all set! So now we have something to look forward to.

Graduation is in less than 5 months! Time seems to crawl by---I still have a lot of work to do, but nothing seems more relieving than to think about getting outta school..finally!!! It makes me feel like a baby to think that I don't have a bachelor's degree yet!!!

And the best news of all......

The Cheesecake factory is selling their cheesecakes for half price on July 30th for National Cheesecake Day ( NOW THATS MY KIND OF HOLIDAY!) and they are introducing a new red velvet cake cheesecake! You better believe I'm going to be there!

Lego Store

The Lego store in Hawaii opened 2 days ago!

I trekked over there yesterday and added an Imperial Guard, a Rebel fighter, Captain Rex, and Chewy to my group.

Prius

What do you think of the Toyota Prius?

I have my own opinions, but I'm too tired to write them.

So what do you think?

A finished product.

Ok, not really. But for the most part it is.

Earleen M. Scott

Yesterday Seth and I were able to attend the funeral of Claude's grandmother, Earleen M. Scott.

Claude and his mother Michelle met us at Turtle Bay to spread her ashes in the ocean. We walked out onto the reef.

It was a beautiful and simple ceremony. Claude said a few things about how much he loved her.

Then after scattering her ashes, they placed 2 leis in the ocean.

Claude really wanted Seth to be there with him. I was glad we were able to go and be there for Claude. I'm sure his grandmother was a great lady!

Proud Nerd.

Yes, we are Star Wars nerds.

These are my Lego Star Wars keychains:

I love collecting these!

Yoda currently resides on my lab keys for the school.

What a cow!

My little sister Jordan baked cookies, and this is how she divided them up for everyone:

Geez.

Yum Yum Yum!

I actually had the most amazing food back home....and I took pictures of them!

So feel free to drool over these delicious pictures.

A turkey sandwich in a jalapeno cheese bagel at City Bagel

Double Double and fries from In N Out

Turkey sandwich on squaw bread from Poor Boy's

Turkey sandwich from the Cheese Shop. Notice I took a bite before I remembered to take a picture.

a "Little" breakfast from Kono's

There was more, but I ate it before I remembered to take a picture.
I already can't wait to go back and eat some more!

SD trip

We're back! We had a fast, but great trip to SD and were able to spend time with both of our families. I'm so happy that Baloo is finally settled. He seems to be comfortable at our house!

I didn't really take many pictures. Don't know why, really. But I have a few!

We were able to go to Six Flags... (it was 111 degrees there!) --I actually passed out on this rollercoaster. No joke. There is a part at the end that spirals (I call it the spiral of death), and I guess I just couldn't handle it. That can't be healthy now, can it?

And Disneyland! It was surprisingly not crowded at either amusement parks!

We also got to go to the science museum at Balboa park. I love that place! We rode the carousel down there, and I won the brass ring! I wish I took a picture to celebrate that victory over Seth and Henry!

We had a lot of fun playing around with all of the exhibits. This exhibit made a circle of smoke that traveled up the the ceiling:

After like 11 pictures, we got this cool one:

mushroom cloud!

We had so much fun being home. I always feel like I never get enough of San Diego.

But best of all, I got to eat some deeeeelicious food, which I will post later.

I heart SD!

Baloo is alive!

..thank goodness.

When our plane landed in SD I looked out the window to see if we could see Baloo getting taken out of cargo...and we did! The first thing I looked for was movement--and thankfully I saw some. He was alive!

I can say that bringing him here was soooo exhausting. But now that we are all settled, I can write about it.

In HI, we had to have Baloo ride in in crate to the airport. Kelly drove us, so we had to put the seats down and have me sit in the back, packed in with all of our stuff and Baloo, to calm him down. I wish I took a picture of that, now that I think about it, because it was a pretty funny sight.I seem to have a calming effect on Baloo, which I figure is because I am his mamma! He gets all worked up in cars, so it made things a little worse.

We didn't have any problems checking Baloo in at the airport. I was totally prepared with all of the documents and crate preparation. Some lady tried to tell me that we wouldn't be able to fly him to SD due to the heat and I wanted to kick her---You don't think I've done a ton of research on this, lady? We got it all settled though, and checked him in. We even gave him some extra water before we got on the plane and had our fingers crossed that he would be ok because at this point he was breathing really hard and was really worked up.

Our flight was pretty turbulent, which had me worried the whole time. When we landed, like I said, I saw movement in his cage, so I at least knew he was alive! We quickly made it to the baggage claim to evaluate the damage.

It was honestly the saddest sight I have ever seen. Baloo was a mess! I had laid a sheet on the bottom of his cage earlier and now it was all ripped and pushed on the side. It was wet too, because his water had spilled onto it and the floor because of all of the movement. He looked terrible; tired and wheezing like I had never heard before. He looked pretty sick. His paw was bleeding too. So Seth and I took him to a part of the airport where no one really was and let him out. I don't think I was supposed to, but I let him pee in the plants outside. The poor guy drank water like it was the last time he could ever drink.

He was like this all the way to Seth's house. He was so tired! We cleaned up his paw, gave him more food and water, and had him sleep in our room in his crate. For those of you who have never heard Baloo when he is breathing hard, it sounds like a pig oinking over and over again. He wasn't able to stop breathing like that until about 4 am, which kept us awake. Then he snores when he is asleep, so that's not any better. I felt horrible putting him back in his crate and sending him on another drive up to my house. I sat in the back with him though, which calmed him down a little.

We were prepared for the worst; meeting 5 new people and 3 wiener dogs after a stressful trip didn't sound good, but it actually went WAYYYYY better than we thought. Baloo loves my family and has so much fun playing with them. The wiener dogs were really cautious and scared of him at first, but they are starting to come around. I think Baloo's breathing scared them. Hammy (the oldest) was the weirdest. He was scared of Baloo, and would only approach him from behind when Baloo was lying on the ground. He would hide behind the furniture and poke his head out and stare at him. Like this: (Look at the tiny face by the couch)

He's getting better though. Baloo seems to be very comfortable here. He's all rested and fed now and everyone just adores him. I think he will be just fine over here!

No matter what room Seth and I are in, he flops down in the doorway or next to me.

And here he is getting used to the dog door to come in and out of the house:

Sorry this is so long, but Baloo's my fatty baby!! Just glad to see that he's OK and comfortable in his new home. Sending him on this trip was really hard for us because we knew how hard it was for fatty, but now its over--thank goodness.

Oh, and my phone broke. Luckily T mobile is sending me one for free, but I won't have it for a few days, just FYI.

Wish me luck!

We leave on our excursion early tomorrow morning.

I reeeeeaaallly hope everything goes well.

I guess you should wish Baloo luck rather than me.

Speedy

This is Speedy, a 19 year old Galapagos Tortoise. He is a whopping 500 pounds!

I have gotten to know speedy over the last few months at the zoo. He was a little sick when I met him in early February.  Sadly, over time his sickness has caused him renal failure. The zoo vet had to euthanize him yesterday, because he was so swollen from excess fluids that he could hardly function.
See how swollen he is? Poor guy. At least now he is better off in animal heaven.

Today I went to the zoo to see the necropsy. There were 5 vets there to help, since 500 pounds is a huge amount... of anything! I actually got to participate in the necropsy, since they are sending Speedy up to me at the BYUH museum anyway this afternoon. Anyway, I won't go into details or show any pictures to spare you, but it was pretty cool (Yes, I did take pictures!). Dissecting and reconstructing the skeleton of a gigantic Galapagos Tortoise isn't your every day stuff!

Fatty's coming to CA

Seth and I are accompanying Baloo to CA this Friday!

I'm sad my little Aussie dog will be leaving us, but our apartment doesn't allow dogs and my grandma can't take care of him forever down in Honolulu.

So we have been working hard this last month to save up money and get everything taken care of to get Baloo ready to fly home!
And I can tell you, it is such a pain! Not only the $$, but all of the requirements you have to follow in order for him to be approved to fly, like crate arrangements and sizes, weight requirements, documentation and licensing , health certificate and keeping up with current vaccinations.

But I am happy to say that after all of that hard work, he is ready to go! I'm not anticipating the actual trip to the airport to drop him off because you know how excited and crazy he gets...

He will be staying with my parents and their 3 wiener dogs. He has a nice setup over there and my little sister Jordie will play with him a bunch, so I'm not worried.

..But I'm going to miss my fatty bulldog SOOOOOOOO much. :( He's my little baby!

Baby Jae

My good friend Mikensi just had her gorgeous baby:

Born on 07.07.09 @ Intermountain Medical Center, Murray
9:13pm
6 pounds 15 ounces
19.5 inches long

CONGRATULATIONS!!

I can't wait to meet him!

Do dogs dream?

My Dad sent me this video this morning.

Poor guy! I wonder what he was dreaming about!

4th.

We had a great 4th of July weekend, celebrating our country and freedom and remembering those who help to give us that freedom.

We had a great time up at Turtle bay watching the fireworks and eating good food!

Hope you all had a good 4th!

Barnyard

Has anyone else seen this movie or cartoon?

Why is the main character a male COW (not bull) with an udder? paaahahaha.

What are they teaching these kids?

Question:

What are these things called?

Seth and I have been debating on this and have come up with a ton of different names.

Please tell me what these are called!

Don't look if you're hungry.

Hooooooooolllllyyyy moooollllllly!!

I was telling my friend at the zoo how much I love Tim Tams and how bummed I was that you had to get them out of the country (I was sad to depart from them in the Philippines). Annnndddd.... she told me that now they sell them at Longs! I was shocked that I didn't know this!

So naturally I told Seth immediately, and we ventured over there that day.

Lets just say that they now consume about half of my diet.

And there are currently 4 packs of them (caramel, dark and original) in our house. And don't expect them to last long.

Sooo......Don't judge me if I gain some weight in the next few weeks.

Beggar

My favorite beggar:

I can hear the food-begging-I-desperately-want-the-food-that-you-have low growl through this picture.

Love you Ham!
