Fun with the Nephews
This is what my Friday night consisted of.
I actually had the intentions of finishing a ton of homework, but we ended up taking a million of these pictures, watching Indiana Jones, and talking about how to catch chickens. Too much fun!
Little Sofi was already asleep, or we would have had one more at the party!

...and this is like 1/10 of the pictures we took!

Never-ending Rice
I have an hour in between classes right now, so I thought I would share a funny story with you.
Ok, so like a month ago, I had bought some Hinode rice. I was making dinner that night, and when I opened the rice cooker and started to scoop out some rice, I saw a big, nasty bug just chilling on top of my rice. It had cooked with the rice the whole time! I'm surprised I didn't notice it before because it was so big.
I was so disgusted and totally bummed out. I threw away the rice, and didn't feel like waiting another half hour or so for another batch to cook, so I sadly ate my lonely teriyaki chicken without rice! I know to most of you thats not that bad--but I'm part asian! I need my RICE! (Blame that on my mom.)
Normally people would just throw away the rest of the rice bag and forget about it. But I was so bummed out about not having my rice for dinner that I actually went to their website, and emailed them. I wasn't really expecting anything out of it other than to vent that I found a fatty BUG in their rice! In one of my classes at the time, we were talking about customer service and consumer product expectations, so in my email I wrote all this lame stuff about how their product quality wasn't up to standard, and blah blah blah. Totally out of my character for me to do this, I might add.
So like a MONTH later, someone emails me asking me to give them my address. I did.
And today I got vouchers for two 10 pound bags of rice. I totally forgot about the whole incident. Getting these in the mail made me laugh. I totally wasn't expecting anything. I felt really frugal and lame that I would take the time to do all that over some rice. I'm actually slightly embarrassed to tell you the story, now that I think about it. Welp, now I have a huge supply of rice. If you need any, stop by!

The End...
...is so close!!!
Today I started the FIRST day of my LAST semester...and nothing ever felt so good! Its so nice to be in class with all of the freshman who are talking about how hard their classes are, and I get to think to myself... " I am SO glad that I don't have to take that class right now!"
I started my new job as well. I work in the Science Stockroom. I already have spent 4 years going in and out of that place for my research, so it was an easy fit. Now I just get paid for being in there. :)
Ok, actually yesterday was my first day of school. But I only have one class, PSYCH 390R on that day. I'm taking a class called Stress Management. I don't need it for my major, but I took it anyway because it is so useful and practical. There are only 9 of us and we just go over different techniques to identify and compensate for stress. It is amazing. I'm also taking Biochem, Statistics, Pacific Natural History, and my senior research (almost done!)
I had quite a day though. I can't even BELIEVE how strict and LAME some teachers can be. So I need to take Statistics, because almost all grad schools require it. I went to go register for it, and they were all full. I thought: Ok, no big deal...I just have to go to the class and add it. I'd never had to do this before, but I didn't think it was a problem. So I had 2 time options to take it. I won't mention the time or the name of the teacher...so I don't get in trouble if anyone who knows her sees it! Ok so I go to the first time slot, and sit in the class. Every seat is filled, and the teacher comes in and calls role. After she is done, she says, "If any of you aren't on the role, you need to leave." I raise my hand and tell her that I'm trying to add the class. (I don't see what the problem is because everyone is here and we all fit in the class comfortably.) She cuts me off while I'm talking and says no and before I can finish, and then she tells me very quickly and sternly that I need to leave and that the class is full. So I tell her very nicely that all of the sections are full and that I really need this class. She says, " Well if you really wanted this class you should have registered early enough. You'll have to learn to think ahead next time and take it next semester." I told her that I graduate in December and that I really, REALLY need this class.
**SIDE NOTE!!: While this entire conversation is going on, the entire class is silent and all turned and STARING at me**
She says " If it is that important you should have been smart enough to register ahead of time. You're going to have to leave now."
...are you KIDDING me lady?
And now that I think about it, this is like the 3rd time I've had an issue with the teachers of the Math department, but that is a different story!
Anyway, so I had to walk around and beg beg beg professors to let me into Stats! I can't believe how popular Stats is...makes no sense to me. After making 2 trips to my counselor and 2 other professors, one of them let me in their class. Geez. I spent my whole day begging. I could teach a class on teacher begging.
The whole day wasn't a complete bust though. I'm taking a Pacific Natural History class where we take a 3 day trip to the big island. That should be fun. But I didn't get out of class until 6, and now I'm exhausted. Where is that stress management class when I need it?
Oh and another thing, I'm saving up for this beauty:

Anyone want to donate to the Lacey Needs A New Camera Fund?
So.... 3 more months until my graduation/best day of the year. Can't wait. I'm grabbing my diploma and running as far away from BYUH as possible.
GRE on Tuesday! And now I'm off to write my personal statement. And sorry for the long post. I really do hate writing posts that have little relevance to anything in particular and have no pictures. I promise it will get better.

Update!
I think this is the longest I have gone without posting something!
As for MEEEE...
I have filled out 9 supplemental applications for Veterinary school. Those of you that have gone through this process know that this IS HARD WORK. I can't even believe how many things I have to fill out/write. And I want to make sure they are written professionally and thoughtfully..so it takes a bit more time than it would to fill out any other sort of application! And why do they ask you for your transcripts and then ask you to input every detail of every semester for your grades in their applications? Makes no sense to me. I've memorized my transcripts and feel as if I am developing carpel tunnel syndrome.
So now I am just awaiting eLORs from my professors. And the GRE, which I take next Tuesday (yiiiiiiikes!) Then I can finish the final touches on my personal statement and then it will all be over...
....oh did I mention that school starts this Thursday?!?
The first day of my last semester! I'm just going to close my eyes and hope it goes by fast.
Anyhoo, Seth's little brother Henry was just out here a few weeks ago and we were able to go on a fun hike to the end of Ka'ena point! It was breathtaking, and we ended up seeing a few Hawaiian monk seals! One almost attacked me--- I ended up not even seeing it (I know, am I blind or something?... yes!)... so I saw this gorgeous beach, and I started running towards the water, when all of a sudden a ROCK ( it blended in with the rocks so well!) jumped up and started to bark at me! Ok, so I screamed and ran away instantly---it scared me to death. Poor guy. I didn't mean to get all up in his face! I'm just....blind! Afterwards he just flopped down again and continued his nap in the sunlight. He reminded me of Baloo.

The beaches along the hike were gorgeous:

There was a tower at the end.. I'm guessing to observe the monk seals and seabird habitats.. but of course Seth and Henry had to climb it!

And we were lucky enough to see a beautiful sunset on the way back

More updates to come after the GRE!

**and thanks to Arica, who helped me with my new blog banner!**
